NYC Grassroots Media Conference

Come organize the Fourth Annual NYC Grassroots Media Conference on February 24, 2007 at New School University.

The NYCGMC is a huge gathering of media makers, social justice organizers, scholars and activists, youth, to practice, teach, share and strategize around the uses of grassroots media.

The conference draws hundreds of participants and features dozens of workshops ranging from culture jamming and hip hop activism to all forms of hands-on, do-it-yourself media production and distribution.

Organizing tasks include:

  • Crafting workshops
  • Community outreach
  • Tech and web support
  • Brochure production
  • Curating art exhibit and film screening
  • Advertising and publicity

We are looking for folks from diverse backgrounds (teachers, artists, mediamakers, activists, etc.) to make our local media landscape more accessible and accountable to our communities.

Monthly, the NYCGMC organizes networking events which bring together organizers and media activists from across the city. Organizers are needed to assist in outreach, design, event planning, fundraising and other aspects to put these fun events together.
