Short Description: 

Learn the nuts and bolts of grassroots community organizing. This workshop will provide participants with tools to develop campaign strategy through power analysis and a solid community outreach plan. Join CAAAV: Organizing Asian Community and JFREJ (Jews for Racial and Economic Justice) for a case study of a campaign for community involvement in the development of the East River Waterfront.

Presenter One Info: 

Nell Geiser is a member leader in the Housing Justice campaign of Jews for Racial and Economic Justice. She spent several years supporting community opposition to Columbia University's expansion in West Harlem and worked for six years in community radio in Colorado and New York.

Donna Truong
Presenter Two Info: 

Donna Truong is a junior in Interdisciplinary Studies at Adelphi University. She has been an intern with CAAAV since July 2008 and has done extensive outreach in Chinatown to involve residents into organizing projects.
